| Young Chef of the Year |
The Walsall finals of the Rotary Young Chef of the Year Award were recently held in the catering department at Walsall College of Arts and Technology

The winners Philippa Cartwright, Hydesville Tower School (juniors 11 - 14 years) and Robert Ian Lowe-Thompson, Hydesville Tower School (seniors 14 - 16) are pictured with David Farrell (President, Walsall Rotary Club) and Pauline Millward, Walsall EBP.

Philippa and Robert represented Walsall in the Regional Finals at Stafford where Robert finished second on his age group.

Young Enterprise Awards Evening |
Representatives of 'Illusions', from Shelfield Community School who were the 2002 winners of the Walsall Young Enterprise Company Award are pictured with their trophy. Also pictured are (back, left to right) John Price, Walsall EBP, Dave Carter, BT (Link YE Board Member) and Link Teacher Nicky Kitson. 'Illusions' had an extremely successful year marketing and selling their range of hand made candles and jewellery.

| Theatre Group's Engineering Tour |
As part of the Walsall EBP, SRB 5 funded project aimed at encouraging youngsters to consider engineering as a positive career choice, CragRats Theatre group recently visited a number of Walsall primary schools. They delivered an engineering-related presentation to KS2 pupils followed immediately by workshops which gave the pupils the opportunity to design and make structures related to what they had seen. One of the CragRats' actors is pictured working with year 6 pupils on an engineering related activity. The feedback from both teachers and pupils was excellent.

| Taster Visit for Girls |
Walsall EBP recently accessed DfES funding through the National EBP Network to deliver a number of 'Non-stereotypical Taster Visits for Girls'. As part of this project a group of year 10 girls from Shelfield Community School visited Bullock Construction, in Aldridge, and were able to visit the administration offices and one of the company's local building sites. Jacky Porteous, Bullock Construction's residential liaison officer, is pictured explaining the quality of bricks used for block paving during the site visit.
