HELP GUIDE

'On the Trail of Numeracy' contains 13 interactive assignments. If you complete 4, 8 or all 13 and score at least 80% on each one you will gain access to a reward. Each assignment is based on a local landmark - from Marks & Spencer to the New Art Gallery Walsall. To familiarise yourself with Walsall town centre and help you compile useful information you should begin by downloading and completing the trail booklet.

1 The trail booklet is in PDF format and you will need
Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 4.0 to print it. Follow the route
around Walsall town centre and answer the questions as
you go. The information you collect will be useful but not
essential for completing the assignments.

2 You are now ready to begin the online assignments. To
navigate between the assignments, links are provided at the
top of every page. Each assignment features a dropdown
help guide which you should read before answering any
questions.

3 Answers can either be typed or selected from a list of
possible answers. You can borrow a calculator from e-beep
if necessary. For a demonstration please click the button.

4 When you are happy with your answers, click the 'Mark'
button at the bottom of the assignment page. Your results
will be displayed instantly. If you score less than 80% you
will be told which questions you need to try again.

5 Once you score more than 80% e-beep will reveal a letter.
After collecting 4, 8 or all 13 code letters type them into the
reward pick-up window (click the star button). Your reward
will be delivered electronically in PDF format. Once again
you will need Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 4.0 to print your
reward.

TEACHERS' NOTES

'On the Trail of Numeracy' has been specifically produced for KS2 pupils (but can easily be adapted for KS3) utilising the expertise of teachers on placement.

The assignments are designed to develop an awareness of the Art Gallery and top of Park Street areas and use them as a resource for learning. The assignments reflect the requirements of the National Numeracy Strategy and give opportunities for practising a range of number skills. The hard copy of the trail 'maps' the assignments against the National Numeracy Strategy.

Please note that the content of some of the assignments in this Web version differs slightly from that in the original hard copy of 'On the Trail of Numeracy'.

This Web site is optimised for Internet Explorer 4.0+ and requires the use of Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 4.0 which can be downloaded for free using the link below.
