On the Trail of Numeracy

This numeracy resource pack, based on Walsall Town Centre, was designed for Key Stage 2 pupils but can easily be adapted for both younger and older age ranges. The pack was developed by Peter Briggs, Maths Co-ordinator at Blue Coat Junior School, and produced by Walsall EBP with the support of the Construction Industry Training Board.

The assignments have been mapped against the National Numeracy Strategy and enable work to be carried out back at school using mathematical data collected in the workbook around the trail.

The trail was originally devised and launched in 2000 but was revised in 2007 to reflect town centre changes.

Following the success of the printed version of the Walsall Town Centre Maths Trail, a copy of which was sent to all Walsall schools, a Web version has been developed and is available at:

Environmental Technologies DVD

Working with South Staffs Water, Shire Oak Science College and other Black Country partners, Walsall EBP has overseen the production of an Environmental Technologies DVD. Intended as a curriculum resource for schools, the DVD explores ways in which schools can deliver and enhance the teaching of Environmental Technologies through links with the water industry and, in particular, the Blithfield Education Centre. Copies of the DVD have been distributed to a large number of primary and secondary schools across the Black Country.

Walsall EBP is supported by Black Country Learning and Skills Council, European Social Fund, Walsall Council, Walsall Strategic Partnership and Walsall Housing Group.
